Vancouver Island cyclist earns second gold medal at the 2017 Canada Summer Games
It was another gold medal for Gillian Ellsay (Courtenay) as she won the women’s criterium race in a dominant fashion at the Red River Exhibition Park road course on Saturday in Winnipeg. She outpaced the rest of the field on her way to gold in the 25-lap race. Each lap was 1.5 kilometres.
Sarah Van Dam (Victoria) placed fourth.
On the men’s side, Victoria’s Jay Lamoureux posted Team BC’s top result with a fifth-place finish. The men’s race featured 35 laps. Racers from Quebec swept the podium in the men’s race.
