Team BC’s basketball teams have strong performances on day 1 of the 2017 Canada Summer Games

Women’s Basketball

Team BC 83 Team Newfoundland 69 

Team BC’s women’s basketball team found their groove in a 83-69 win over Team Newfoundland at the University of Winnipeg Duckworth Centre. 

Top scorers for BC: Hailey Counsell (Port Moody) with 20 points and Olivia Morgan-Cherchas (Kamloops) with 14 points

Next  game for Team BC: July 30, 13:00 at the Sport for Life Centre vs. New Brunswick 

Men’s Basketball

Team Ontario 92  Team BC 73

Team BC’s men’s basketball team came out strong against Team Ontario with a 7-0 start and led the first half. Team Ontario put the pressure on in the second half to eventually win 92-73, but it was an exciting game right up until the end. 

The top scorers for Team BC were Caelen Scott (Victoria) and Kevin Li (West Vancouver)
