Team BC to play for fifth place in curling

By Heather Beatty, Team BC Mission Staff

Team BC played Team New Brunswick today in the quarterfinals.  Team New Brunswick had to play two tiebreaker games yesterday in order to advance to this game, so one might expect them to be tired.  However, they brought that momentum gained from the wins with them into the game.

After four ends of play, Team New Brunswick had a three-point lead over Team BC.  In the fifth, Team BC took two points to narrow the gap, but in the sixth end Team New Brunswick got three points and went up 7-3.  Although there was a sizeable gap in the score, Team BC was still within reach of Team New Brunswick, until New Brunswick stole another two points in the seventh end.

Team BC wasn’t able to generate a big score in the eighth, only getting one point.  The game ended with a score of 9-4.  Team BC played a good game, but never seemed to be able to get control and Team New Brunswick didn’t miss many shots, making it difficult to generate points.

They will play Team Alberta tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. for fifth place.
