Team BC synchronized swimming makes a splash in prelims

It’s been standing room only at the Prince George Aquatic Centre with line-ups out the door to watch the synchronized swimmers show their stuff.

After the end of the preliminary round, Team BC exceeded their expectations and are excited for the final round of competition starting on Friday, February 27th.  

In the solo event, Katrina Hohensee (Kamloops) is sitting in ninth spot and teammate Luiza Vasylyeva (Victoria) is in 11th.  Both Team BC duet teams had a strong performance with Hoheness/Sarah Jones (Victoria) delivering a seventh place performance and with the Stefanie Dickinson (North Vancouver)/Katie Stirrat (Vancouver) duet closely behind in ninth spot.   

Team BC executed a fantastic performance in the team event with a fourth place finish that showed a significant improvement on past Canada Games performances.  We caught up with Hoheness and asked how she was feeling getting a strong prelim under her belt, “I’m feeling pretty good, our team swims have been very strong.  All our highlights went up and were good.  There are things to fix, which is a good thing because it means we have room for improvement.”

When asked about the packed venue, she added, “there was a lot more cheering than I was expecting.  Normally its teams and the parents cheering for each club, but it seemed like everyone was really into it and cheering for everyone, and that’s really cool.”
