Team BC ringette will play for fifth after overtime win

By Ashley McMullin, Team BC Mission Staff

The day started out much like their last meeting, as Team Saskatchewan went ahead early in their ringette match up with Team BC.  Fortunately, Team BC scored four unanswered goals within five minutes in the first period.  The teams traded goals in the second period, leaving the score tied at the end of regulation.  Overtime lasted only 30 seconds before Angela Cichos (Port Coquitlam) scored for the win.

In the locker room before the game, the team talked about their goal to play with pride, integrity and guts.  Colette Chorney (Kelowna) spoke about continuing to play that same way in tomorrow’s game.  “We have tough competition coming up, but I think we’re ready for it,” said Chorney.  “All we have to do is believe in ourselves – that’s what it will all come down to.”

Team BC faces Team Alberta tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. to play for fifth place.  Either way, Team BC will improve their 2011 eighth place finish in Halifax.
