Team BC ringette medal opportunity missed with loss to Team Manitoba
By Ashley McMullin, Team BC Mission Staff
Team BC had a strong start in the first half of the quarterfinals of ringette at the 2015 Canada Winter Games but came up short with a 4-7 final score against Team Manitoba. Goals from Brooklyn Hay (Enderby), Mardy Colasimone (White Rocky) and Nina Tajbakhsh (North Vancouver) and an intense penalty kill by goaltender Sarah MacDonald (Langley) put Team BC ahead 3-2 at the end of the first period. Hay picked up another goal in the second period; however, Team Manitoba had scored five.
Ringette was one of the first teams to be finalized for Team BC. “This team has been together a long two years,” said Hay. “We just want to go out and finish hard.” The team faces Team Saskatchewan tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.
With the quarter final loss, the team will now play for fifth place which comes with six flag points to add to Team BC’s overall total. Click here to read more about flag points.
