Team BC ringette comes up short in round-robin play

By Ashley McMullin, Team BC Mission Staff

Team BC completed the round-robin portion of the 2015 Canada Winter Games with losses against Team Saskatchewan and Team Alberta.  The morning game against Team Saskatchewan ended with a close 6-7 score.  A penalty shot goal by Angela Cichos (Port Coquitlam) late in the second period wasn’t enough to secure the lead as Team Saskatchewan went ahead by two goals with three minutes left in regulation.

The final score in the afternoon game was 3-10 for Team Alberta.  Team BC was on the scoreboard early with a goal by Nina Tajbakhsh (North Vancouver), but Team Alberta quickly gained momentum and pulled away.

The team is disappointed, but their sights are set on what is ahead.  “Now that we’re out of pool play we need to buckle down and focus on the task at hand – winning a medal,” said Teigan Moore (Kelowna).  Team BC is set to play Team Manitoba in the quarterfinals tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.  Moore is looking for the team to “catch Manitoba off guard by coming out flying in the first.”
