Team BC moves to 1-1 in ringette pool play with win over Team PEI

By Ashley McMullin, Team BC Mission Staff

Team BC defeated Team PEI in today’s 11:30 a.m. matchup.  Team BC was on the scoreboard early with goals from Riley Pickrell (West Kelowna), Brooklyn Hay (Enderby) and Angela Cichos (Port Coquitlam) in the first 10 minutes of the game.  Hay picked up two more goals to round out a hat trick, and Danielle Wall (Burnaby) also scored, making it 6-1 at the end of the first period.  In the second period, Team PEI fought back to hold Team BC to just one more goal (Pickrell), while scoring three to make a final score of 7-4.

“I thought we moved the ring really well, especially on power plays in the first period.  PEI came out strong in the second period, but we were able to hold our ground even after a few quick goals,” said Cichos.

Tomorrow, Team BC faces Team Saskatchewan and Team Alberta to finish up pool play.  Cichos is excited to continue to play in front of a home crowd, and said the team is “ready to work even harder for our next games.”
