Team BC goes down to the buzzer with Team New Brunswick in wheelchair basketball

“It doesn’t get much closer than that,” recounted Avril Harris (Prince George) of Team BC after their nail-biting 66-65 loss to Team New Brunswick in wheelchair basketball.  “We played with everything we had and came close,” said Harris.  He had the chance to tie the game at the very end when he was awarded a two shot foul throw which could have tied the game with just 1.3 seconds left in regulation time.  After sinking the first basket the crowd went wild, but his second shot rolled off the rim to give Team New Brunswick the win.

“The team played their best game of the Canada Winter Games,” praised head coach Marni Abbott-Peter.  “They were hitting the basket again and again, and playing solid defence against a motivated New Brunswick offence,” Abbott-Peter continued, “we’re so proud of every one of them.”
