Speed Skaters ready for competition

The weather is getting cooler and Team BC’s speed skating teams are ready to heat things up. Eager to start racing and show the home crowd what they are made of, Team BC speed skaters are ready to hit the ice bright and early Sunday on the first day of competition.

At the long track oval – the women’s 1500m and men’s 3000m races kick off in the very early morning to capitalize on the cooler overnight temperatures.

Short track will begin later in the morning with the highly anticipated 1500m, which sets the stage for the entire short track competition.

When asked how the team was feeling, long track coach Ariana Van Der Starre said, “We’re excited to get on the ice and show how hard we’ve trained and prepared for the Games.”
