Soccer knocked out of medal round on penalty kicks

Team BC vs. Team Alberta
Final Score: 0-0; Alberta wins 3-2 on penalties

The knockout round of the 2017 Canada Summer Games men’s soccer tournament began Thursday evening with BC taking on their western rivals from Alberta. It was nearly a mirror image of the women’s tournament last week as once again BC lost in the quarterfinals in devastating fashion. After playing the full 80 minutes to a 0-0 draw, Alberta bested BC in a penalty shootout 3-2.

BC is now eliminated from medal contention and will fight for fifth place starting Friday night at 7:30pm [CDT] against New Brunswick at Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex.
