Team BC loses first match to Team Alberta

BC lost its first badminton matches of the competition when both James Ho and Joshua Liu were defeated in their respective men's singles matches. Both matches went to three sets.

Dad surprises pitcher son, BC to play for gold

Justin Olic (Surrey), a crafty southpaw was today's starter against Alberta. Unknown to him, his father Frank Olic flew in to watch the him play. After working the 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM shift Frank jumped on a plane in Vancouver to Fort McMurray.

Golden boys in top form for triathlon relay

A light mist kept the triathlon conditions slick and chilly for the second day of competition. Team BC medaled in both the male and female three-person relay with the men taking gold and the women taking home silver.

Women battle to a split on day two!

The BC women's volleyball team ‎started the day off with a battle with Team Alberta. The teams have a history, having met twice before the games and split both match ups.

26 medals for Team BC at the Western Canada Summer Games with swimming leading the charge, collecting 25 in the pool and the men's 8 in rowing taking home gold.

Shade golden in Wood Buffalo

The water at Macdonald Island Park was golden for Special Olympics athlete Jesse Shade (Campbell River) at the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games.  Five gold medals in the pool were just the beginning for the sixteen year old Vancouver Island swimmer.  

Swimmers add to medal haul on second day of competition

Team BC swimming hauled in 25 medals of which 15 were gold, four were silver and six were bronze. Special Olympics swimmer Jesse Shade swam to two more golds today bringing his tournament total to four.

Team BC Softball goes 2 and 1 for the day

Team BC Softball earned two more wins today but dropped one in the final game of a triple header day.

Team BC Volleyball Men split day two of competition

Team BC took a win against Team Yukon in three sets but lost a tight match to Team Alberta in the afternoon.

Team BC names Tina Jiang and Leo Sammarelli as flag bearers for Closing Ceremony

Richmond’s Tina Jiang from Golf and Vancouver’s Leo Sammarelli from Athletics will serve as flag bearers at the Closing Ceremony of the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games after turning in exceptional performances during week two of competition.

Team BC wrapped up the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games with a successful final day of competition, capturing 10 more medals, including five Gold medals. BC finishes these Games third in the overall medal standings, with a total of 128 medals, including 34 Gold, 51 Silver, and 43 Bronze.
