Gymnasts, speed skaters and target shooter bring home hardware for Team BC

Team BC climbed the podium 10 times on Thursday, bringing home one gold, five silver and four bronze medals at the 2015 Canada Winter Games. 

In the gymnastics event finals, Aaron Mah of Vancouver and Shallon Olsen combined for five medals for Team BC. Mah won gold in the men’s floor exercise and silver in men’s horizontal bars. Surrey’s Olsen won three medals: two silvers – vault and floor exercise – and a bronze in uneven bars. 

Mah places fourth in men’s all around competition

Team BC’s Aaron Mah takes fourth place in the men’s gymnastics all around competition.  The team will conclude with individual event finals on Thursday.

Medal trifecta for Emily Dickson as Team BC posts big results at Winter Games

Emily Dickson earned her third medal of the 2015 Canada Winter Games on Wednesday in the biathlon 10km pursuit, adding a gold to her silver and bronze finishes from earlier this week. 

Team BC’s long track speed skaters were also golden – Jacob Graham (Dawson Creek) and Sara Spence (Kamloops) both won their respective 500m races in Fort St. John on Wednesday.

Silver medals were earned by Mel Pemble (Victoria) in the para alpine slalom, Leia Hoot (Kamloops) in the target shooting air rifle event, and the female long track speed skating team took silver in women’s pursuit: Sara Spence, Carolina Hiller (Prince George), Abigail McCluskey (Penticton) and Emilie Medland-Marchen (Kelowna). 

The team of Tony Procter (Prince George) and Emerie Watson (Quesnel) earned a bronze in the compound archery event. 

Golden day for B.C. long track speed skaters

Team BC’s long track speed skaters got off to an impressive start at the 2015 Canada Winter Games on Wednesday earning gold in the men’s and women’s 500m events and a silver in the women’s team pursuit. 

Jacob Graham of Dawson Creek and Sara Spence of Kamloops took top spot on the podium in the 500m. Spence was also part of the team that won silver in the pursuit event with Carolina Hiller (Prince George), Abigail McCluskey (Penticton) and Emilie Medland-Marchen (Kelowna ).

Impressive medal haul for Team BC long trackers

Team BC has an impressive showing long track speed skating today.  The day ended on a high from the two gold medals from Jacob Graham and Sara Spence and bronze in the women’s team pursuit.

Dickson wins gold

Local biathlete Emily Dickson rounds out her medal set with a gold in the women’s 10km pursuit.  Both men’s and women’s teams rally for some important flag points for Team BC.
