Golden Gymnasts

The first day of gymnastics competition began today at MacDonald Island Park with the Men’s Team and All-Around events.  Team BC took gold in the Team Competition and gold and silver in the individual All-Around.

Judo golden again!

Well after a golden first day at the Western Canada Summer Games, Judo did just as well on the second day of individual competitions.  Judo won four golds, one silver and one bronze.  

Cyclists turn road racing into a team sport

While cycling is often considered an individual sport, today two of our Team BC cyclists turned the finish into a team event, crossing the finish line hand-in-hand. 

Beach Teams continue great results on Day 2

The men’s beach volleyball team are 4-0 and the women are 3-1 after day two of competition.

Buzzer Beater to win the game!

Team BC Women’s Basketball team won an absolute nail-biter of a game with a buzzer beater shot from Ashlyn Day to win the game against Saskatchewan 59-57.

The opening day of gymnastics competition began today, Aug. 9, with men’s team competition and the venue at MacDonald Island Park had the stands lined with supporters.

Trinity Western teammates medal to open 2015 athletics competition

Athletics competition got off to a golden start for Team BC on opening day, Aug. 8, as 20-year-old Regan Yee took gold in the women’s 1500-m event. Trinity Western University teammate Adam Marshall stepped on the podium minutes later earning bronze in the men’s 1500-m.

After the first day of competition, B.C. is in first place in the medal standings with a total of 37 medals, including 15 gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze.

They are father and son at home but here in Wood Buffalo, Alta. father Laurie Willett is on duty as coach of son Sam Willett (Victoria), the top-ranked hammer throw athlete competing at the  2015 Western Canada Summer Games.

On the first day of competition Team BC cyclists took home five of six medals in the Individual Time Trial event, setting the stage for three more exciting days of racing.
