Team BC concludes successful 2015 Western Canada Summer Games with trophy win

Team BC topped the medal count and flag points and won the Western Canada Summer Games Trophy for the 11th consecutive time.

Team BC take 280 medals as 2015 Western Canada Summer Games close

After 10 days of competition at the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games in Fort McMurray, Alta. BC wrapped up competition Sunday with a medal total of 134 gold, 86 silver, 61 bronze and a grand total of 280 medals won.

Rostam Turner takes gold in decathlon

Rostam Turner, a decathlon athlete from Kelowna B.C. Turner had seven  personal bests during the Western Canada Summer Games in discus, pole vault, high jump, shot put, 110m hurdles, 100m and long jump and finished with a total of 7113 points and claiming the gold medal.

Team BC men’s basketball team defeated Alberta in today’s semifinal game, with a final score of 86-41. The team looked confident and well-polished, a good sign heading into tomorrow’s gold medal game at 11:00am.

Hammer throw women sweep podium as Athletics bring in 21 more medals

Team BC continued their athletics medal haul today, Aug. 10, at Timberlea Athletics Park, where Regan Yee raced the third best time in Canadian history in the 2000m steeplechase and BC swept the podium in the women’s hammer throw. 

Birthday girl seals double gold for Judo in unexpected match up

It was an exciting final day of competition, Aug. 10, that saw both the men’s and women’s British Columbia Judo teams top the podium. Today was Isabelle Harris’ 14th birthday and it only seemed fitting that she would seal the women’s team’s gold medal 3-2 over Alberta.

Tennis players heat up the court

It’s getting hotter at tennis in more ways than one. The temperature on the court reached over 30 C. The competition also took a step up as the two undefeated teams (BC and Alberta) matched up in the afternoon draw.
