Herbertson’s Time to Shine
Team BC’s U16 men’s basketball team started the tournament strong with a decisive 123-12 win over Nunavut. Every player saw plenty of minutes during the game today, but #22 Declan Herbertson had a standout game for Team BC.
“I thought Declan ran the floor well, he finished around the rim well, he rebounded well for us. He’s a big, strong guy,” said coach Joe Enevoldson.
Not a regular starter for the team, Herbertson stepped up for Team BC today and scored 12 of the team’s whopping 123 points. This game was a great opportunity for Herbertson to shine, and he took full advantage.
“I like scoring,” said Herbertson. “I had more playing time this game so that was exciting for me.”
Like a true athlete, Herbertson is already refocused and looking ahead to the next games. When asked what he’s looking forward to most about the Western Canada Summer Games, he didn’t hesitate, “winning the gold medal!”
Team BC takes on Saskatchewan Sunday at 7pm.
