Chefs de Mission announced for St. John’s 2025 Canada Summer Games
VICTORIA – The BC Games Society is pleased to announce the appointment of Eron Main as the Chef de Mission and Brianna Davey as the Assistant Chef de Mission to lead Team BC’s contingent for the St. John’s 2025 Canada Summer Games.
The St John’s Games, taking place from August 8-24, 2025 in Newfoundland and Labrador, will see Main and Davey lead a team of up to 25 Mission Staff along with a contingent of over 485 athletes, coaches and managers.
“We are fortunate to have two proven and experienced professionals to lead our team in Eron and Brianna,” said Jarret Poitras, Team BC Operations Manager. “The upcoming Games in St. John’s will be an incredible opportunity to continue to build on past successes and to develop the sport leaders of tomorrow on our Mission Staff team. Eron and Brianna have the energy, skills, and leadership qualities that will be essential to bringing our goals and values to life.”
Main brings a strong background in sport to the Team BC program. He has served in senior leadership roles at the International Wheelchair Rugby Federation and Rowing BC and has attended 29 international or national Games in a variety of roles, including three Canada Summer Games (2013, 2017, 2022) as Sport Mission Staff.
“I have always thought that the Team BC program is a major factor in the success of BC athletes,” said Main. “It provides excellent competitive experiences for young athletes and prepares them for future success nationally and internationally.”
As Chef de Mission, Main will fill the roles of team leader, official spokesperson, and cheerleader for the Team BC contingent and – in consultation with Davey, BC Games Society staff, the Canada Games Council, and the Host Society – will help coordinate the overall direction of Team BC’s participation in the Canada Summer Games.
“After being on mission staff for three Canada Games, I am honoured to be leading Team BC in St. John’s,” said Main. “The ‘team behind the team’ makes a huge difference for our athletes. I look forward to helping them have a first-class Games experience.”
Davey has ample experience at the Canada Games, having served as Sport Mission Staff at the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games and the PEI 2023 Canada Winter Games. She also attended the 2019 Canada Winter Games as Director of Operations for the Team BC female hockey program. During her 10 years with BC Hockey, Davey has been involved in the high-performance program, facilitating camps and providing positive experiences for athletes wishing to compete at a higher level.
“I am very honored and privileged to be selected to assist and lead Team BC through the 2025 Summer Games with Eron and the leadership team,” said Davey, who currently serves as the Vice President, Member Services – Minor and Female at BC Hockey. “I have enjoyed my two opportunities as a Mission Staff, and I am excited to support all mission and operations staff through the games to ensure they have a great experience.”
The Team BC leadership team will now work to recruit and select a Mission Staff team to support Team BC’s athletes and coaches at the St. John’s Canada Summer Games. These exciting volunteer opportunities will be made public before the end of April.
