Gymnasts tumble to silver on Monday

The second day of gymnastics competition at MacDonald Island Park featured the Women’s Team and All-Around events. Once again, the stands filled quickly with supporters and our boys team, still feeling great after yesterday’s performance, cheered on their teammates from the front row.

 

In the Team event, our girls earned a silver medal behind a very strong performance from Team Manitoba. Team Alberta earned a bronze medal, with three of their athletes coming from the local Norfort Gymnastics Club in Fort McMurray. In the All-Around competition, our top performer was Rachel Sarganis (Vancouver) who placed sixth with a score of 53.20. The rest of our girls were not far behind, all earning scores within 1.1 points of each other. The top individual performers on today’s events have qualified for the women’s apparatus finals Tuesday at 10:00am.
