Freestyle skiing event wraps up for Team BC

By Drew Todd, Team BC Mission Staff

Team BC finished off their week of freestyle competition Wednesday with dual moguls.  The team took home a pair of fourth place finishes from Noah Spence (Penticton) and Sofiane Gagnon (Whistler), helping to propel the team’s flag points.

On the men’s side, both Team BC athletes had a tough draw, competing against eventual winner Robbie Andison from Ontario.  Kyle Parker (Port Moody) lost to Andison in his first race of the day while Spence ran into Andison in the semi-finals.

The women had a bit of an awkward draw themselves, as they were pitted against one another on multiple occasions.  Elena Gaskell (Vernon) beat out teammate Madison Parker (Port Moody) in their second run. Mackenzie Schwinghamer (Kelowna) and Gagnon were pitted against one another in the third.

Dual moguls signified the end of competition for freestyle skiing with Team BC delivering an outstanding performance across the four disciplines – slopestyle, big air, moguls and dual Moguls.  In the end, Team BC collected seven medals, four gold, one silver and two bronze.
