Canada Games Gold Medallist Hayato Sato Named CSI Pacific Athlete of the Month

Right on the heels of winning the Gold Medal in Curling at the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, men’s curler Hayato Sato has been named CSI Pacific Athlete of the Month Powered by 2XU for April 2019.

The Athlete of the Month is Canadian Sport Institute Pacific (CSI Pacific)’s way of acknowledging a BC-located athlete who has displayed outstanding performances in their sport and deserves recognition. Athletes chosen monthly to be the face of Canadian Sport Institute Pacific receive a feature on our CSI Pacific’s website and a gift from 2XU.

Hayato has been curling for eight years, starting in Coquitlam in 2011. He has been curling with his current team for the past three years and has represented British Columbia at the Under 18 Nationals and Canada Winter Games last month.

He has been an U-21 provincial silver (2018) and bronze (2019) medallist, as well as an U-18 provincial champion (2018) and silver medallist (2019).

Hayato was nominated for the Athlete of the Month powered by 2XU for April based on his gold medal achievement at the Canada Winter Games.

Previous winners have included Celina Toth (Diving Canada) Phil Mack (Rugby Canada), and Simon d’Artois (Freestyle Canada).
