Boxing BC names athletes for Canada Winter Games
Boxing BC has announced the six athletes that will represent Team BC at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alta.
“We are so excited about the 2019 Canada Winter Games. Not only has boxing been reinstated in the Games since 2011, but we also have a very strong team too,” said Team BC coach Dave Brett. “Boxing BC has worked hard over the past few years to scout and ready the athletes heading to the Games. The coaching staff have all worked closely together to build this strong team.”
Brett said each athlete has put in the work with three pillars of training as top priority: strength, endurance and technique.
“This focus has allowed tremendous growth in the team to solidify them as dominant candidates at this years games. Provincial coach, Bob Pegues, has set up a legacy within the province to not only build the provincial athletes but also to mentor the provincial coaches too.” said Brett.
Team BC coaches have worked under Pegues guidance since the announcement of the Games.
“We are so excited about this opportunity to showcase boxing to all Canadians. We have worked hard to ready Team BC’s boxing athletes,” said Brett, “Now it is time to put the hard work into action. Look out Canada, Team BC is coming.”
