BC leads baseball standings 2 wins, 1 loss
Finn Chester a 15 year old playing with the Victoria Eagles in the BC Premier League won the Outstanding Pitcher in their provincial championship tournament. BC dominated their opponents in this game with precision pitching, excellent fielding and timely hitting.
Coach Tessier (Douglas College) said “The boys played well and got rid of some of their nerves. Playing in multi-sport games comes with a lot of distractions that they aren’t used to.” He also mentioned that the boys were a little in awe of playing in such an amazing facility. “The facility is worthy of a professional minor league team”.
In Game 2, it was a lefty- lefty matchup against Alberta with Jack Decooman (North Vancouver) going against Adam Macko. Jack went 3 innings giving up 2 runs on 2 hits. In the third inning Cole Dalla Zanna (North Vancouver) came in for relief. Cole, a lefty with a lower arm angle, had the Albertans off balance for two innings giving up just one run on 2 hits. Offensively, TeamBC came to life in the 5th inning scoring 4 runs once the starter. 14 year old, Macko, was taken out of the game due to pitch count. The teams then traded a pair of runs and BC headed into the bottom of the 7th up 5-3. Cade Smith a 6’5″ hard throwing right handed pitcher came in to close the game for BC. Unfortunately Cade had some command issues giving up one run on 2 walks and 2 batters were hit by pitch. It became a one run game with the bases loaded with none out for Wes Moore (Surrey). Alberta ended up scoring 3 runs, in the bottom of the seventh for the victory on a walk, a wild pitch and an error. A disappointing loss for the team.
Dawson Gray (Surrey) went 3 for 3 with 1 RBI to lead the offense.
This sets up a grudge match in the second round robin between these two teams.
