BC Hockey names male roster for Canada Winter Games

BC Hockey, in conjunction with Team BC announced the 20 players selected to play for Team BC at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alta. from Feb. 15 to March 3, 2019.  
                
“This is an exciting time for a special group of players,” said BC Hockey Chief Executive Officer Barry Petrachenko. “The opportunity to represent their province in a multi-sport event will be great experience and stands as a tremendous accomplishment for the players, and we want to thank the coaches and staff for all their efforts in bringing our team together and supporting them throughout this journey as members of Team BC.”

Team BC kicks off the 2019 Canada Winter Games on Feb. 16, 2019 against Manitoba. Team BC will also face Saskatchewan and Alberta in preliminary play prior to the quarterfinals that start on Feb. 20, 2019. Semi-final action will be played on Feb. 21, 2019 and the medal games take place on Feb. 22, 2019. Hockey will be played at both the Kinex Arena and the Centrium in Red Deer.

British Columbia has won the gold medal in men’s hockey on two occasions: 1979 – McCreary, Man. and 2011 – Halifax, N.S.

At the Canada Winter Games, B.C. has earned two silver medals (1967,1983) and two bronze medals (1987, 1999.) B.C. finished fifth at the last Canada Winter Games held in Prince George in 2015.
