BC dominates on the golf course
It was a strong showing for Team BC women’s golf today, with BC taking the top three positions after the first round of competition. Hannah Lee (Surrey) led the pack, finishing with 72. Teammates Tiffany Kong (Vancouver) and Alisha Lau (Richmond) were tight on her heels, tying for second place with 73’s, and Shirin Anjarwalla (Nanaimo) finished with 76.
“The girls did their jobs today, and they handled the competition well,” said head coach Matt Palsenbarg (Surrey).
On the men’s side, A.J. Ewart (Coquitlam) finished in first place with a score of 71 – three strokes ahead of the second place golfer’s score. Tristan Mandur (Mill Bay) finished with 76, Keenan Flemming (Sechelt) with 78, and Khan Lee with 80.
“The wind was a challenge today, for sure,” said head coach Matt Palsenbarg. He thinks BC will have a stronger showing tomorrow, now that they’ve got the first day under their belts. He credits the Fort McMurray Golf Course for its challenging and beautiful golf course.
“The course is fantastic. It’s in great condition, the club has done an amazing job.”
All teams play again tomorrow, Aug. 15, with tee off times beginning at 8:00 a.m. for the women and 9:00 a.m. for the men.
