A silver afternoon for Team BC in athletics

Team BC athletes won four silver medals at the University of Manitoba Stadium Thursday afternoon at the 2017 Canada Summer Games.

“That’s my goal to represent Canada one day. How ever high I can get in track and field and try to represent my country one day.”

On being at the Canada Games
“It’s been great. It’s been a pleasure being here.  The city of Winnipeg and the province of Manitoba have hosted us really nice. All these volunteers leave their homes and families to come out here and help us out. I am pretty excited and pretty happy.”

COULSON-WILLETT, Sam (Victoria) – Hammer Gold (Received medal on Thursday after competing on Tuesday)

“It’s been a great experience. I’ve had a lot of fun and met a lot of great athletes and I’ve had a great competition, so it turned out well for me.”

D’AGNOLO, Lauren (Victoria) 400 metres – 6th place

“This is my first big race back from injury. I am getting over the barrier of feeling confident in my stride again. In the heats, I ran like a bit of a chicken, but managed to make the finals.  I have missed a lot of training.”

“They’re doing a really good job taking care of us here. I love travelling for my sport. I am really proud on representing BC.”
