“I am honoured to be selected to represent Team BC at the 2015 Canada Winter Games.  I am very much looking forward to competing at my home club against the best athletes in the country,” said Emily Dickson (Prince George).  Living in Prince George, I am able to see the energy that is building in the community as the Games approach, which makes me even more excited to be a part of the event.  After talking to many alumni, I recognize this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me.”

The team was selected based on the results of two days of competitions at the North American Cup #1 biathlon event in Canmore, Alberta on December 6-7.  Athletes from across BC raced in a Sprint competition and a Mass Start competition, with the top four male and top four female performers earning spots on Team BC.

The BC team athletes will be training with their clubs over the next two months, and participating in two provincial-level biathlon events leading up to the Canada Winter Games:  BC Cup 1 in Quesnel on January 3-4 and BC Cup 2 in Whistler on January 24-25.  At the 2015 Canada Winter Games the biathlon competitions will take place in the first week of the Games, February 13-20, 2015 at the Otway Nordic Centre.
