Weather conditions delay first alpine race
Team BC Alpine is set to start competition on Sunday, after changing weather conditions delayed their first race of the Canada Winter Games. The ski racers are accustomed to dealing with the elements and remain calm and collected in the face of changing circumstances.
“You just have to adapt to what comes at you, and if it changes you just have to go with the flow and roll with it,” says Sierra King (West Vancouver).
Three B.C. teammates from Grouse Mountain Tyee Ski Club are looking forward to representing their club at their first Games experience this week.
Kristina Natalenko (New Westminster), Frances MacDonald (North Vancouver), and Nicole Mah (Vancouver) are proud of the community that they come from and thankful for the way their club has supported them on their journey.
“Everyone’s super supportive…it just feels like a big second family,” says MacDonald.
“I’m just excited to stand in the start gate, and be like, ‘wow, I’m here,’ and then just go and give it everything.”
