Women’s gymnastics team flips their way to bronze
By Danielle Williams, Team BC Mission Staff
The Team BC women’s gymnastics team is off to a great start after winning a bronze medal in the women’s team event on Sunday night. Team BC, fueled by the energy of the hometown crowd, fought hard and claimed the third spot behind Quebec and Ontario.
Shallon Olsen (Surrey), 2011 Canada Winter Games alumni, led the Team BC squad and was the second ranked gymnast overall at the end of the night. Olsen, along with teammates Clair Kaji (Vancouver) and Itzia San Roman (Burnaby) have qualified for the women’s all around event happening Tuesday at UNBC.
The Team BC men’s gymnastics team hopes to build off the women’s success when they take to the gym Monday night at 5:30 p.m. for the men’s team event.
