Team BC Wheelchair Basketball ready for first game
After spending their first few days in Prince George warming up their wheels with practices, Team BC wheelchair basketball athletes are ready to take to the court tomorrow (Monday) for their first two games of the 2015 Canada Winter Games tournament.
After today’s practice, players Paula Higgins (Delta), whose parents were both noted Paralympians, and Riley Martin (Kelowna) were clearly beyond excited and eager to begin the gold medal hunt. “I’m fired up!”, exclaimed Higgins in the team room after practice. “It’s been a great start to the Games with things like the opening ceremonys, but now we’re ready to get down to business!”
The captains for tomorrow’s games, appointed by both team members and coaches, are Aidan Love (Victoria) and hometown favourite, Avril Harris (Prince George). Harris was honoured to be able to take part in the opening ceremonies.
Their schedule kicks off tomorrow with an 11 a.m. game against Manitoba, and finishes with a 7 p.m. game against PEI.
