Team BC curlers advance to semi-final
By Heather Beatty, Team BC Mission Staff
Team BC curlers played their final game in the pool this morning against Team PEI. After five ends of play the teams were tied 3-3 and it was looking like it could be anyone’s game. In the sixth end, Team PEI scored one point and then stole another two points in the seventh end to go up over Team BC by three. Two points for Team BC in the eighth kept them within striking distance. Team PEI blanked the ninth and went into the tenth up one point with the hammer.
In the final end, Team BC was sitting three with one shot left to come. Team PEI’s last rock didn’t curl and Team BC stole three to make the final score 8-6. Despite the win, third team Sterling Middleton (Fort St. John) said, “we still have room to improve in the semi-final.”
Team PEI went on to beat Team Alberta in a tiebreaker game and will now play Team Manitoba in the quarterfinal. The winner of that game will meet Team BC in the semi-final tomorrow night.
