Table Tennis training underway for Team BC

Held at Duchess Park Secondary School, the tournament consists of boy’s and girl’s singles, boy’s and girl’s team, and mixed doubles disciplines. Beginning Monday, competition will take place each day through until Saturday with medals being given out Wednesday and Saturday.

BC will be in tough this week with powerhouse Ontario being a heavy favorite across disciplines, but the energy of the home crowd will surely pump up athlete Mike Yue from New Westminster. “It’s certainly a different atmosphere. Most of the tournaments I play are in different provinces. I’m definitely excited to play with the home crowd cheering me on instead of cheering my opponent on!”

Monday’s competition schedule consists of the first four rounds of the team stage, plus stage 2 for both the girl’s and boy’s. Action gets underway at 9:00 in the morning, and matches run until 8:00 at night.
