Team BC captures bronze in the mixed team trampoline competition

By Drew Todd, Team BC Mission Staff

Wednesday signaled the final chance for medals at the 2015 Canada Winter Games in trampoline competition with the mixed team.  After a disappointing singles event Tuesday, Wednesday was a chance for redemption, and Team BC seized the opportunity by earning the bronze.

In mixed team, each province sends all four athletes (two male, two female) onto the mat where the best score from each gender is used to calculate the total team score.  Team BC surprised most by failing to record a podium finish in the male singles event Tuesday, but Kyle Carragher (Port Coquitlam) bounced back in a big way by posting a huge score to secure the medal for Team BC.  Adding to the team’s total was Emily Schmidt (Kamloops).  Her high score for the women helped immensely, while Curtis Gerein (Kelowna) and Poppy Quinlan (Maple Ridge) rounded out the Team BC bronze-winning contingent.

All told, Team BC finished in fourth place in terms of flag points and looks forward to coming back to the Games in 2018.
