Buzzer Beater to win the game!

Team BC Women’s Basketball team won an absolute nail-biter of a game with a buzzer beater shot from Ashlyn Day (Kelowna) to win the game against Saskatchewan 59-57.

After a rocky start and trailing most of the game, Team BC kept their composure and turned it around to pull off a thrilling win.
“We were flustered in the first quarter but we pulled it together with some key shots in the second quarter,” said Donaldson, who led the team with energy and tenacity throughout the game. Other standouts were Lindsey Bott (Burnaby) with some key shots from outside and Madison Legault (North Vancouver) with some key rebounds late in the game.
The teams dueled for the lead the entire game. Just when it seemed BC had clinched the win, a deadly three-pointer from Saskatchewan tied up the game with less than a minute to go.  Responding with confidence, Day drove to the hoop for the winning basket and the crowd erupted.
The game on the court wasn’t the only competition going on at the time – cheering competitions between Saskatchewan and BC fans often broke out throughout the game. But in the end, a large contingent of supportive parents cheered on their BC girls to victory (perhaps earning a few more grey hairs in the process).
