BC Diving names eight athletes to Team BC for Canada Summer Games

BC Diving is proud to announce the eight athletes who will be representing Team BC at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg from July 28 to August 13.

Men:
Ryan Grover, Victoria (Boardworks)
Bryden Hattie, Victoria (Boardworks)
Nicholas Nepomuceno, North Vancouver (iDive)
Sam Braun, West Vancouver (iDive)

Women:
Coral Strugnell, Metchosin (Boardworks)
Tanesha Lucoe, Victoria (Boardworks)
Jessie Nowotny, Langley (White Rock Divers)
Alison Komlos, West Vancouver (iDive)

Coaches: Jorge Batencourt, Lisa Boog
Manager: Kailee Lingham

Sam Braun of West Vancouver competed for Team BC four years ago at the 2013 Canada Summer Games.  He is joined by club teammate Nicholas Nepomuceno as well as current Junior National Team members Bryden Hattie and Ryan Grover of Victoria.

Bryden Hattie said, “I am very honoured and proud to say I get to represent BC in the Canada Games.  My goals are to do my best and make BC proud, hopefully Team BC can achieve our goals and make it the best Canada Games yet.”

On the women’s side, former gymnast Coral Strugnell of Metchosin and her Boardworks teammate Tanesha Lucoe (Victoria) will join Lower Mainland divers Jessie Nowotny of Langley and Alison Komlos of West Vancouver.

Coach, Lisa Boog (Victoria) is excited about the makeup of the team.  “We have a great team going consisting of both experienced athletes along with those who will be participating in their first major competition at this level.  I am looking forward to the events and anticipate it being a successful Games.” 

The diving competition at the Canada Summer Games will take place during week one of competition, July 28 to August 4 at the Pan Am Pool.

The Canada Games are a national multi-sport competition with participation from every province and territory in Canada. The Games are held every two years, alternating between winter and summer. The 2017 Canada Summer Games will be held July 28 to August 13 in Winnipeg, bringing together approximately 4000 athletes, coaches, and managers from every province and territory to compete in 16 sports.  The Canada Games will celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2017 coinciding with Canada’s 150th birthday.  Visit www.canadagames.ca.
