Team BC Uniform and Pin Packages Unveiled
When the 2017 Canada Summer Games start in Winnipeg on July 28, Team BC will proudly wear our provincial colours to represent British Columbia.
“We are grateful to Team Sales, the official clothing supplier for Team BC, who put together a clothing package truly representative of British Columbia and the pride we will all feel representing our province at these national Games,” said Rob Needham, Chef de Mission for Team BC.
The ceremonial uniforms for Team BC were unveiled today and include ceremonial and podium t-shirts, a jacket and hoodie, along with a hat and branded socks.
The shirt that Team BC will wear into the Opening and Closing Ceremonies features a custom art design by Indigenous Artist, Jamin Zuroski. The design titled “Team BC UNITE” celebrates the spirit of teamwork and cooperation and was commissioned by the organizers of the Team BC contingents going to the 2017 Canada Summer Games and the 2017 North American Indigenous Games.
While both teams compete under the Team BC name, the contingents have traditionally been organized separately. The design represents two teams, two worlds, embracing diversity, respect, connection, perseverance, excellence, and celebration. Two animals are featured- the raven is a symbol of Team BC at the North American Indigenous Games and the whale represents Team BC at the Canada Games. Each animal highlights special qualities such as strength, determination, unity, and desire for success both as an individual and as a team. The feather symbolizes a tool that embraces balance of the mind, body and spirit. All of elements together are in the shape of a ball or sphere to highlight momentum of the athletes and all of those who support them on their journey.
The collectible Team BC pin package was also released today which includes a three-part puzzle pin of an orca pod as well as alumni, coach, and mission staff pins. There is a “birthday cake” pin recognizing the 50th anniversary of the Canada Games and Canada’s 150th birthday. A limited edition “Cheer Whale” pin will be a popular trading item at the Games.
Thanks to our Team BC athletes who modeled their new gear.
