Team BC wins silver medal as Canada Games diving starts in Winnipeg

Diving together for the first time wasn’t a factor as Ryan Grover (Victoria) and Bryden Hattie (Victoria) won silver in synchro – three metre as the 2017 Canada Summer Games Diving competition got underway Monday at the Pan Am Pool.

“Not bad for a first time,” said Hattie when asked how it felt to get a silver medal at the Canada Games. “I am very happy with the result,” said Grover.

Grover and Hattie scored 366.27 points for their dives, less than one point back from the gold medal team from Quebec at 367.05 points.

BC’s other team in the event, Sam Braun (Vancouver) and Nick Nepomuceno (North Vancouver) placed ninth.

The women’s team of Tanesha Lucoe (Victoria) and Coral Strugnell (Victoria) were eighth and Alison Komlos (West Vancouver) and Jessie Nowotny (Langley) were 11th.

Diving continues Tuesday with the 1-metre springboard events.
