Beach Volleyball men and women fall to Team Alberta
Women:
Team BC’s women’s volleyball lost a heart breaker to Team Alberta at Sargent Park today. Darby Dunn (Langley) and Quinci Birker (Kelowna) won the first game 21-17 and looked to be in control of the match. However they lost the second set 21-18. In the tie breaker, the lead changed hands many times. At one point Team BC were up 13-11, but Alberta came back and won the game 16-14. BC have a tough match against Quebec on Tuesday that can be seen live on TSN, at 18:00 CDT.
Quote
GILRAY, Mike (Coach)
On the outcome of the game
“We played well but we need to execute our game plan to beat these good teams.”
Men:
Team BC’s men’s volleyball team, Jeff Webb (Nanaimo) and Isaac Bevis (Nanaimo) were sluggish in a loss to Team Alberta at Sargent Park in Winnipeg today.
The first game was a hard fought affair with Team BC eventually losing 21-19. However, in the second game, the Team BC boys were tired and Team Alberta won that game 21-11.
There seemed to be a bit of a let down after the excitement of the two wins yesterday and being in the TSN televised game. Coach Rick Bevis (Nanaimo) did not think the team played well enough and said “they will need to bounce back and regroup against a strong Quebec team.”
