Victoria diver scores her second medal at the 2017 Canada Games

Coral Strugnell of Victoria earned her second medal of the 2017 Canada Games Wednesday afternoon at the Pan Am Pool in Winnipeg.

“It was not at all expected. I came in here with no expectations and to have fun,” said Strugnell after she completed her five dives with a score of 259.65 to win silver. “I try to focus on one dive at a time and try not to put anything in front of me and just go step by step.”  A diver from Ontario took gold and bronze went to an Alberta diver.

Strugnell credits her dive club and coaches for her success so far in Winnipeg. “I wouldn’t be here without them.”  Her result today was more than five points higher than her best result.

On Tuesday, she won a bronze in 3-metre springboard.  She competed at both the 2012 and 2014 BC Winter Games.

Victoria’s Tanesha Lucoe placed 10th in the final with a score of 208.80
