Beach Volleyball teams off to semifinals

Team BC men’s and women’s beach volleyball teams are one win away from earning a medal. Both teams played against the hometown Team Manitoba and came away with hard fought victories.

The men won their first set 21-8, but lost the second set and had to come back and win the third set 15-13.

The women lost their first set 21-15. They then won the second set 25-23 and the third set 15-13.

Both the men’s and women’s teams played through the pressure of large crowds cheering against them, minus a small rowdy Team BC contingent, to eventually come away victorious. As coach Rick Bevis said to the men’s team before the game “embrace the black hat” they were able to ignore the crowd and the announcers, be the dark horse and play their game.

The men play Team Alberta Thursday night at 5:45pm and the women play Team Alberta at 7:00pm.
