GUDZ, Keaton
On day 1 of competition:
“It felt great to get off to a good start individually and as a team. I hit the ball very solid and my putter was hotter than ever on the back nine. Overall we are feeling confident in where we stand position wise, and feel as though we are in striking distance heading into the second round.”

On the athlete village:
“My favorite part of the village would be hanging out with other athletes and also the food has been spectacular. Not only that, we have been able to cheer on the volleyball teams!”

WOMEN:
The Team BC women’s golf team had a strong showing on day one of competition. Alisha Lau (Richmond) and Hannah Lee (Surrey) both shot a 72, leaving them in a four way tie for second place behind Quebec’s S. Rheaume who shot a 68. Teammate Tiffany Kong (Vancouver) shot a 74 and is tied for sixth place.

LAU, Alisha (Richmond)
On day 1 of competition:
“I’m feeling good. I left a few shots out there, so there is definitely room for improvement. My overall score wasn’t bad, but I want to do better for my team. We’re feeling confident, there’s a lot of golf left for the event and opportunities to go low.”

On the overall Games experience
“My favorite part of the Games so far has been the Team BC pep rally and going to watch other sports. It’s not very often us golfers get to be in a large team environment like this and it’s awesome to be able to be loud and cheering for teammates in others sports!”

1st: S. Rheaume (Quebec): 68
2T: Alisha Lau (Richmond): 72
2T: Hannah Lee (Surrey): 72
6th: Tiffany Kong (Vancouver): 74

Team BC women are in second place in team scoring behind Quebec.
