MISSION STAFF MONDAY – JENNIFER SCOTT

Today you are in for a real treat. It is our distinct pleasure to feature our fearless leader, the one and only Chef de Mission, Jennifer Scott. I know what your first question is – can she cook? (Chef – get it…?) Unfortunately, this will remain a mystery – we did not thoroughly think through the survey. Hope the suspense isn’t too much.

Before taking on the role of Chef de Mission for the 2019 Canada Games, Jennifer was a three-time member of Team BC Sport Mission Staff. Another one of British Columbia’s valuable veterans, Jennifer knows a thing or two (or three…) about what to expect in Red Deer. Good thing she is leading the charge.

What advice do you have for Team BC athletes heading to Red Deer?

Enjoy every moment, and take the time to meet people from across the country (you heard it here straight from the pro)

Mission Staff Monday fans, we have discovered a trend. Not many of our recent featured Mission Staffers have a favourite sports team? Coincidence? Bad survey question? Or is everyone simply empowered by the joy of sport to pick only one…?

Jennifer’s Fast Facts:

  • Nickname: Never had one (suspect…)
  • What was the first concert you ever attended: Coldplay
  • What is your most used emoji: Clapping hands (as you would Jennifer…)
  • Favourite Food: Reese Peanut Butter Cups (best answer yet)
  • Favourite Colour: Blue
  • Real-life occupation: Senior Manager, Sport Burnaby (sounds fun… what does that mean?)

As Senior Manager of Sport Burnaby, Jennifer builds partnerships with local stakeholders and sport organizations to bring their events to Burnaby. She has supported the delivery of hundreds of sport events – from modest regional events to large scale international championships – which create positive social, sport and economic impacts in the community.

(wow – got it – goodness, the world needs more people like you!)

Why did you join Team BC Mission Staff?

It was an incredible opportunity to contribute to the development of BC’s sport system (no one told me this when I joined…)

When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your time?

Hiking with my dogs, travelling, reading

If you could win an Olympic medal for any sport, real or fake, what would it be?

Water Polo (quite conventional)

In closing, Jennifer’s favourite quote – “not all who wander are lost.

We are lucky you found us (blushing cheeks emoji) – love the rest of the Mission Staff
